WHAT DO GIFTS TELL US ABOUT WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE FEEL ABOUT EACH OTHER?
You've made your list and checked it twice and moved recipients back and forth between the columns "Naughty and "Nice":) What does the gift you have chosen for that special someone / a colleague / family member / your pets say about who you are and who you think they are?
Presents reveal a truth about the giver and the recipient because the gift is tangible evidence about the state of the relationship. This is important because an un told amount of resources go into the illusion of the Holiday Season, which seems to start earlier and earlier each year, have you noticed Christmas decorations are competing Halloween decor for shelve space? If it is not about what you get its about what you receive how come the lines are long at the return counter the day after after Christmas? My theory is if we understood our selves, and appreciated the people we gift for who they are and not for who we want them to be the Holiday's would be brighter, for so many more people ( and animals ) a couple of suggestions.
TAKE A MINUTE TO LEARN YOUR RECIPIENTS People evolve what your sister liked last year might have changed take a minute to find eco friendly ways to gift her - this helps her learn more about a cause you believe in - environmentalism and provides a gift she can use and share with others. Planting a tree in her name, supporting a school garden program and bringing her the fruits of their labor which you volunteered in and which you capture in photos, are three suggestions.
MAKE YOUR OWN GIFT BASKETS Lucky does not begin to describe how blessed we are to have been born with geography as part of our inheritance, the abundance and diversity of edibles screams: "Make gift baskets silly" during the holiday's. It's has been said: "food is the key to the heart" if you can't feed them you can't join them and the Holiday Season is one time of the year you want to be with friends and family. Take this opportunity to introduce the folks you want to gift to the bounty of vegetarian cuisine, think of it as a public health service - converts, no problem:)
GIVE AN EXPERIENCE RATHER THAN GIFT, MORE STUFF Do you remember what you got for Christmas last year or are your Holiday Memories a treasure trove of vivid experiences? Remember the words: "Try Something New?" Practically everyone can appreciate the effort and thought behind gifting someone great tickets for a live performance, reservations for their favorite or hot new restaurant or un wrapping a trip for two to for a romantic or quiet weekend " away from it all" Now that living green actually has teeth and momentum gifting is easier, sophisticate and fun each exchange of a gift is an opportunity to learn more about the choices we make why we make them and who we share them with, what secrets will you learn during this Holiday Season?:)
